Elevating Brand Identity: Sagicor's Custom Golf Shirt Success Story

Sagicor, the largest and oldest insurance company in the Caribbean, first became our client during a business trip to Barbados. We had no idea this collaboration would take us on such an accomplished journey. 

It started with small orders and simple tasks. But then came the real test: a last-minute rush order for the holiday season. Four days, to be exact, to get an order of custom client gifts delivered before the holidays. Successfully rising to the challenge, we made it happen and delivered, proving ourselves to Sagicor. 

Building their confidence, Sagicor trusted us with another project, which was creating custom golf shirts for a great event. 

Requesting Apparel With Impact 

They were looking to enhance their brand presence at a significant meeting event in South Africa. They already knew they loved our Caribbean Polo Shirt with its technical wicking fabric, UV protection up to 40+, and quality snag-resistant material. 

So this meant ordering a high-quality custom golf shirt that moved beyond the traditional workwear apparel look of embroidered left chest logos. They wanted a more retail-looking and trendy approach to garment decoration; they were looking for a piece of artwork. 

Balancing Custom Design And Brand Representation 

The challenge began with creating a design that included all the necessary elements: the company logo, tagline, event location, and date. We had to maintain a clean look while not overcrowding the custom golf shirt. 

On top of that, our team needed to move beyond traditional decoration methods and introduce them to new ideas. Last but not least, the final challenge was about logistics; we had to find a way to deliver these products to South Africa on time and ready for the event. 

New Decoration Techniques 

Heat-Transfer, Laser, and Deboss 

To address these challenges, we were ready to implement our new decoration methods. With a vision for the logo to replace traditional embroidery with a lightweight and full-colour process heat transfer on the left chest, resulting in a modern feel. 

We tackled the tagline using laser etching around the bottom left side of the shirt instead of trying to do a screen print. We chose laser because it is a light method without a rough underside and can effortlessly go over seams, offering a smooth finish. 

To creatively incorporate the event location and date and make the custom golf shirt pop, we used a debossing technique on the right side of the shirt, adding a subtle retail look! 

A Custom Golf Shirt That Made an Impact 

The final result was a perfectly branded custom golf shirt showing off the logo, a tagline, and the event details. We managed to create a sleek, high-impact, modern shirt design. The three new decoration methods delivered a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing shirt for the client. This resulted in a high-quality and memorable branded item that enhanced Sagicor's brand image at their South African event. For Accent, this was another successful project for the books.
